1987 Chevy G30 Hicube box truck conversion. This truck started as a USAF base fleet vehicle and was sold at auction to a mechanical engineer that outfitted it for daily living. I am the 3rd owner. I purchased her with the odometer reading 43K and put 16K miles on it in a 5 month period of daily living and use. She has external bumps and dings, some rust points where rain collects (near front bumper edges), but she is mechanically and structurally sound. I drove her from Taos New Mexico to the Piedmont area of North Carolina in 4 days in the dead heat of summer. She handled elevation changes, dry/wet conditions, and extreme temperatures without any problems. Regular maintenance and respect for her age when you’re driving her (do not take her above 65 mph and let her warm up for 5 minutes before getting underway in the mornings) will show you her grit. Starts every time, holds a steady, smooth idle, and has a smooth acceleration without hesitation. This vehicle is a tank.

~ The previous owner had let her Renogy lead acid battery die, so I replaced it with a Rich Solar 200ah lithium battery. Both the Renogy system and the Rich Solar battery will communicate (with your phone) via bluetooth. Two separate apps, but they work independently of one another just fine. There was some drift that occurred, but it’s possible to know the battery health based on the Rich Solar app alone. The Renogy charger has light indicators that tell you with a quick glance if the solar panel is harvesting sunlight, if the battery is being charged, which power source is currently in use, and if the profile is set to lithium. Checking the Renogy system with the bluetooth app is an unnecessary redundancy. The MPPT charger is connected to the vehicle battery as well, so the alternator charges the battery while you drive, and the solar panel trickle charges the vehicle battery when the engine is off: no jump start needed. There are a few USB charging ports (one in cab, one in kitchen, and a few more on the master power station near the battery bank under the bench) and two AC power ports for powering devices. The mini fridge is directly plugged into the inverter.

I put a lot of effort and money into her when I bought her from the previous owner, who was not attentive to her maintenance/repair needs. The previous owner drove her in that poor condition in mountainous territory and freezing climates for three years, and the van still didn’t quit. Never broke down, just kept limping along. I’d owned classic vehicles prior to this box truck, so I knew if I got her into shape and took care of her she would be a juggernaut. I have all the maintenance and repair records. Recent alignment, serpentine belt replacement, brake pads/turned rotors, oil change (<400 miles ago), power brakes/Hydroboost pump replacement, among other things. Zero fluid leaks.
The price is set at $12,000. California tags/registration valid through Apr 2027. I'll be slowly getting the registration/title transferred to NC. If you catch me prior to the transfer, we can discuss knocking some off the price. She’s parked in Rural Hall and I’m in Greensboro. I will only show her/allow test drives for serious buyers ready to pay cash.
